Hear what the group is like

To help you rediscover your true, authentic Self, I use the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model. This approach is designed to foster Self-leadership by understanding the parts of you that have been in control for too long, creating the dissatisfaction and unhappiness you’ve experienced. These parts often formed when you were young—acting as protectors in the face of painful, overwhelming events.

Though these parts have been trying to help you for years, they often continue operating long past their original purpose. IFS allows these parts to relax and step back, so your wise, resourced adult Self can take charge.

In this group, you’ll quickly realize you’re not alone. Many men feel like they’re still battling life's challenges as the “little boy” inside, no matter their age. But through shared stories, support, and deep healing, you’ll see that recovery is possible for you too.

As you reconnect with your authentic Self, you’ll gain access to the inner resources that have always been within you, but blocked by survival strategies you no longer need. Resources like:

  • Wisdom to navigate life with confidence

  • Discernment to make sound, purposeful decisions

  • The capacity to form deep connections in relationships

  • Clarity to see your life’s direction

  • Self-trust and inner confidence to lead with strength

I’ve walked this path myself. For years, I thought I needed to be fixed, but the truth was, I was never broken. The journey is about unlearning the survival tactics that no longer serve you and stepping into your true potential. Click here to read more about my healing journey.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the intention for the group?

To help men recover their authentic selves. To do this, I introduce participants to the IFS model and to help them:

  • Understand the IFS model

  • Recognize the influence of their parts

  • Detect and unblend from parts

  • Learn to speak for parts rather from them

  • Learn how to go inside to develop relationships with their parts

  • All of this will help the participant develop Self-leadership which, in the IFS model is the path to authenticity and so much more.

How will this group help the participants in their lives?

After a lifetime of survival strategies designed to get love, approval, and appreciation, Self-leadership will develop as participants gradually let go of these personnas and enjoy the emergence of their authentic selves.

How will this be accomplished?

This group is for men who are convinced that their “act” is no longer working. They realize that they don’t know how to form true connections with others and are willing to learn how to take personal responsibility for their experience of life. This group is for men who want to discover their true authentic nature.

What will happen in the group?

When your focus is primarily on your external world, the circumstances of life are in control of your inner state. By learning to direct your conscious attention inwardly you will focus on what is responsible for your experience. The IFS model helps participants focus inside on the parts that influence their thoughts, emotions, and actions. The IFS model is a compassionate approach that helps us befriend, help, and form alliances with parts so they can do what they do best - help us live our lives. Parts that get stuck in the past provide ineffective and problematic help because they are reacting to what happened in the past and are unable to respond in ways that reflect current reality. They unintentionally recreate the past until they become unburdened and updated. Once this happens, our parts can partner with us in the present moment to help us live as the best and highest versions of ourselves. The Men’s Recovery Group helps participants begin this journey of healing and personal development.

Who is the group for?

Participants who are in active addiction are not appropriate for this group. If you’re not sure, let’s talk.
